Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 1456 irregular migrants were apprehended during the ‘Kalkan-24’ inspections for irregular migrants during the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Minister Yerlikaya announced on his social media account that during the Eid al-Adha holiday, ‘Kalkan-24’ inspections were carried out for irregular migrants in coordination with the Governorships and the Directorate of Migration Management. Accordingly, during the inspections carried out in 60 provinces during the Eid al-Adha holiday with 165 Mobile Migration Point vehicles, 75 of which were in Istanbul, 35,159 identity checks were carried out and 1456 irregular migrants were detected. The apprehended irregular migrants were handed over to Provincial Directorates of Migration Management and deportation procedures were initiated.
Yerlikaya congratulated the governorships, the Directorate of Migration Management and the police, gendarmerie and Coast Guard teams who carried out the inspections and said, “May God bless your feet. Our nation’s prayers are with you. We will never give an opportunity to the organizers and irregular migrants who try to make our country a target and transit route for irregular migration by smuggling people.”
