The number of registered vehicles increased by 9 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 29 million 791 thousand 66.
Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced the motor vehicles statistics for May.
Accordingly, the number of vehicles registered in May increased by 4 percent compared to the same month of last year and rose to 232 thousand 401.
In the said period, the number of deregistered vehicles decreased by 12.4 percent to 2 thousand 938. Thus, the number of vehicles in traffic increased by 229 thousand 463 in May.
Of the vehicles registered last month, 47.9 percent were motorcycles, 38.5 percent were cars, 7.5 percent were pickup trucks, 3.5 percent were tractors, 1.7 percent were trucks, 0.5 percent were minibuses, 0.3 percent were buses and 0.1 percent were special purpose vehicles.
The number of vehicles registered to traffic in May increased by 18.4 percent compared to the previous month. In the said period, special purpose vehicles increased by 61.5 percent, buses by 38.8 percent, cars by 38.2 percent, trucks by 31.1 percent, minibuses by 26.2 percent, tractors by 25.7 percent, pickup trucks by 25.6 percent and motorcycles by 4.4 percent.
Looking at the annual changes in May, minibuses increased by 48.9 percent, buses by 31.6 percent, motorcycles by 9.7 percent and automobiles by 3 percent, while special purpose vehicles decreased by 29.5 percent, tractors by 18.8 percent, vans by 9.8 percent and trucks by 8.3 percent.
Number of registered vehicles 29.8 million
The number of registered vehicles increased by 9 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year, rising from 27 million 334 thousand 424 to 29 million 791 thousand 66.
At the end of May, 52.5 percent of registered vehicles were automobiles, 18.6 percent were motorcycles, 15.4 percent were small trucks, 7.5 percent were tractors, 3.3 percent were trucks, 1.7 percent were minibuses, 0.7 percent were buses and 0.3 percent were special purpose vehicles.
Transferred vehicles
Of the 920 thousand 604 vehicles transferred, 64 percent were cars, 15.5 percent were vans, 13.1 percent were motorcycles, 3.1 percent were tractors, 2 percent were trucks, 1.7 percent were minibuses, 0.4 percent were buses and 0.2 percent were special purpose vehicles.
Of the cars registered in May, 9.5 percent were Renault, 9.5 percent were Volkswagen, 8.6 percent were Chery, 8.1 percent were Fiat, 5.4 percent were Hyundai, 5.4 percent were Peugeot, 5 percent were Citroen, 4.7 percent were Opel, 4.4 percent were Toyota and 4 percent were Skoda, Dacia 3.5 percent, Honda 3.5 percent, Ford 3.1 percent, MG 2.8 percent, Mercedes-Benz 2.7 percent, BMW 2.2 percent, Nissan 2 percent, Audi 1.6 percent, Kia 1.4 percent, Volvo 1.4 percent and other brands 11.1 percent.
In January-May period compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of registered vehicles increased by 23 percent and became 1 million 62 thousand 420, while the number of deregistered vehicles decreased by 3.6 percent and became 11 thousand 620. Thus, the total number of vehicles in traffic increased by 1 million 50 thousand 800 in January-May period.
In this period, 65.1 percent of 433 thousand 4 cars registered to traffic were gasoline, 13.2 percent hybrid, 12.6 percent diesel, 7.9 percent electric and 1.2 percent LPG fueled.
As of the end of May, 35 percent of 15 million 651 thousand 542 cars registered to traffic were diesel, 32.7 percent LPG, 29.5 percent gasoline, 1.8 percent hybrid and 0.7 percent electric. Fuel type of 0.2 percent of automobiles was unknown.
Among 433 thousand 4 cars registered to traffic in January-May period, 31.9 percent had 1300 and below, 22 percent 1401-1500, 17.7 percent 1301-1400, 13.5 percent 1501-1600, 6.3 percent 1601-2000, 0.7 percent 2001 and above engine displacement.
In this period, 38.9 percent of the registered cars were gray, 25 percent were white, 12.8 percent were black, 11.8 percent were blue, 6.3 percent were red, 2.7 percent were green, 1 percent were orange, 0.5 percent were yellow, 0.5 percent were purple and 0.4 percent were other colors.
