A magnitude 6 earthquake struck off the Ogasawara Islands south of Tokyo, the capital of Japan, at 09.39 local time. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the epicenter of the earthquake was off the Ogasawara Islands and the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 50 kilometers.
No tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake.
The Ogasawara Islands are located 1000 kilometers south of Tokyo, the capital of Japan, and 1600 kilometers northwest of Guam Island in the western Pacific.
