The boat owner, who was found to be snail fishing off the coast of Samsun’s Canik district without turning on his lights despite the hunting ban, was given an administrative fine of 66 thousand 114 liras.

Provincial Police Directorate Maritime Port Branch Directorate teams determined that the boat belonging to Y.M. was fishing for snails with a double algarna without turning on its lights despite the hunting ban off the coast of Canik district. Y.M., who did not obey the light and sound warnings of the teams, was filmed cutting the ropes of the double longboat while escaping, leaving it in the sea and covering its license plate. The boat owner was caught and an administrative fine of 66 thousand 114 liras was imposed for the offenses determined within the framework of the ‘Fisheries Law’ numbered 1380, and 3 sacks of snails on the boat were released into the sea.

It was stated that the boat owner will be reported to the Port Authority for disobeying the stop warning and sailing without turning on the lighthouse, and to the ‘Coast Guard Command’ for leaving the algarnas in the sea and polluting the sea.
