In Amasya, 82-year-old Yaşar Aktaş, who did not give up despite not winning the DGS for 3 years to become a 4-year university student, took the exam for the 4th time.
Yaşar Aktaş, who is married, has 3 children and 8 grandchildren, watched the building of Amasya University Faculty of Theology from his home and studied online. Aktaş, who could not spare money for private tutoring due to spending his pension on rent and other household needs, attended courses at the Amasya Public Education Center. Then, he also took lessons from university students studying mathematics teaching at the age of his grandson in the special section of the library at Amasya University.
“God willing, I will win this time”
Aktaş, who was among the first to arrive at the entrance of the exam hall at Amasya University Faculty of Theology, said, “This is my 4th attempt at this exam. I hope I will win this time, I worked hard.” Aktaş, a retired electrical technician who could not access his primary school diploma after he could not find it in the system of the school he graduated from and who applied to open education at the age of 70 and successfully completed primary education, high school and two-year theology department respectively, said, “Reading is a very beautiful thing. I will read until I die, until the grave.”
