The President of Ethiopia congratulated Ethiopian athletes Tamirat Tola and Sembo Alemayehu for their success at the 2024 World Athletics Awards.

The athletes made the country proud on the international stage by winning prestigious awards at the ceremony in Monaco.

Highlighted Achievements:

Tamirat Tola won the “Men’s Outdoor Athlete of the Year” award for his outstanding performance at the Paris Marathon and his successful outings throughout the year.

Sembo Alemayehu was honored with the “Women’s Rising Star” award after breaking a record in the women’s belt championship category at the World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.

President Taye, in his statement to the athletes, noted that their achievements made a significant contribution to the country’s sports history, saying, “You have stood on the strong foundations of our legends and inspired future generations.”

These awards solidify Ethiopia’s leadership in athletics globally and serve as a guiding example for young athletes.
