Gabon has decided to lift the curfew that was introduced in August 2023 and extended by the military after the coup. According to a statement made on December 18 by the Minister of National Defense and the Chief of Staff, the transition period president aims to provide all citizens with the opportunity to celebrate the year-end festivities in peace, harmony, and unity. With this move, the restrictions imposed nationwide have been lifted. The curfew was initially introduced to ensure security during the presidential election process.
