The prosecutor announced his final opinion for singer Seçil Çiftçi and her father Cemal Çiftçi, who are on trial for the alleged murder of Semih Sevim, whose body was found in a forest area in Sancaktepe, Istanbul, by strangling him with pantyhose. In the final opinion, it was requested that Seçil Çiftçi and Cemal Çiftçi be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment on the grounds that Seçil Çiftçi could not have committed the murder alone, so she carried it out together with her father.
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, it was stated that an investigation was initiated after an unidentified person was found dead near Sancaktepe Sazak Çeşme Recreation Area on January 1, 2023, and it was determined that the deceased person was Semih Sevim (40), who had previously been reported missing.
“HE CANNOT HAVE COMMITTED THE MURDER ALONE”
According to the news in DHA, it was stated in the indictment that the accused singer Seçil Çiftçi could not cause the injuries determined alone and that there was an opinion that she and her father committed the acts that caused the death of the deceased.
HEAVY LIFE IMPRISONMENT REQUESTED FOR FATHER AND DAUGHTER
Seçil Çiftçi and her father Cemal Çiftçi were asked to be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment separately for intentional killing by design.
THEY APPEARED BEFORE THE JUDGE
Arrested defendant Seçil Çiftçi was brought to the hearing at Istanbul 19th High Criminal Court. The defendant Cemal Çiftçi and the lawyers of the parties were also present in the courtroom.
STRANGULATION WITH PANTYHOSE
The prosecutor announced his final opinion. In the final opinion, it was stated that the victim’s general body traumas occurred as a result of brain hemorrhage and strangulation with pantyhose.
“THEY COMMITTED THE MURDER TOGETHER”
Considering the physical structure of the defendant Seçil Çiftçi, it was stated that she could not do the act alone and it was evaluated that she and her father Cemal Çiftçi committed the murder together.
PROSECUTOR REQUESTED AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR FATHER AND DAUGHTER
The prosecutor demanded aggravated life imprisonment for Seçil and her father Cemal Çiftçi on the charge of “intentional killing by design”. The prosecutor also requested the arrest of Cemal Çiftçi who is on trial without arrest.
DECISION WAS TAKEN FOR THE CONTINUATION OF SEÇIL’S DETENTION
Seçil Çiftçi and her lawyers requested time for defense against the final opinion. The court decided to continue detention of Seçil Çiftçi and adjourned the trial for the preparation of defenses.
