In a primary school in Başakşehir, two kangal dogs fed in the garden by the school principal attacked an 11-year-old student. While the student was injured as a result of the attack, parents were initially told that the incident was not a dog attack but a fall from the fence. After learning the truth, parent Hatem Yardımcı filed a complaint against the school administration.

In the incident that took place last Friday in Başakşehir, the school principal was feeding two kangal dogs in the school garden. The principal had created a fenced area in the garden where children played and kept the dogs there. However, this caused anxiety among parents and students.

On the day of the incident, an 11-year-old student named Çınar H. Y., while playing, missed his ball in the area where two kangal dogs were playing. Çınar tried to get the ball by climbing over the fence and was attacked by the dogs. The injured student was removed from the area with the help of teachers and parents and taken inside the school.

Wrong Information Given to Parents

After the attack, Hatem Yardımcı was told by the school administration that his child had fallen over the fence. The parent came to the school and learned that his child had actually been attacked by dogs. Çınar was taken to the hospital for treatment and a report on the incident was obtained from the hospital. The Yardımcı family went to the police station and the District Directorate of National Education with these reports and filed a complaint.

In the footage taken after the incident, it was seen that the area where the dogs were kept in the school yard, including the bicycle parking area, was covered with wires. School officials said the dogs were fully vaccinated and not aggressive. They claimed that the student was injured when he tripped over the fence while trying to play with the dogs. However, it was learned that the dogs were taken from the school yard and taken to a factory yard in Esenyurt after the incident.

Hatem Yardımcı described his experience as follows: “My son Çınar started 5th grade here this year. We have never had any problems with the school and my son until today. On the day of the incident, his father dropped my son off at school around 08.30 in the morning. At around 09.30, my son was called on his cell phone and told that he had fallen from the fence. I told him that it was not serious and that he could continue his education. However, I was told that it was serious and that I should come to school. When I came to the school, I learned that dogs had attacked him.”

Yardımcı said that when he asked to meet with the school principal, the principal told him that the dogs would stay at the school and that the child was guilty. Yardımcı learned that dogs should not be in the schoolyard and that there had been complaints about this issue before.

After the incident, Hatem Yardımcı and his family filed a complaint with the police station and the District Directorate of National Education. An investigation was launched and the dogs were reportedly removed from the schoolyard. The incident sparked a major debate between parents and the school administration.
