Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that measures have been taken to meet the increasing passenger demand during Eid al-Adha. Uraloğlu said, “On June 14-15-16 and 22-23, we provided an additional capacity increase of 9 thousand 660 people by putting additional YHT sets into service on Ankara-Istanbul and Ankara-Konya routes.”
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a written statement regarding the measures taken on railways for Eid al-Adha.
Stating that necessary measures have been taken in YHT, main line, regional and urban trains operated by TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ in order to meet the increasing passenger demand on Eid al-Adha and to facilitate the travel of citizens, Uraloğlu said, “We increased the capacity of 9 thousand 660 people by putting additional YHT sets on Ankara-Istanbul and Ankara-Konya tracks on June 14-15-16 and 22-23.”
Uraloğlu stated that Marmaray, Başkentray, Halkalı-Bahçeşehir, Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme, Gayrettepe-İstanbul Airport-Arnavutköy metro lines operated by TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ and serving 700 thousand passengers a day will provide free service on the feast.
Uraloğlu also pointed out that additional capacity will be increased with the addition of pulman and sleeper wagons on main line and regional trains during the period of June 14-23 and said, “During the Eid al-Adha holiday, 15 thousand 800 seat capacity will be increased with the addition of 280 wagons on Izmir Blue, Eastern, Güney/Vangölü, Konya Blue, 4 September Blue, 6 September, 17 September, Ege, Erciyes, Pamukkale, Ankara main line expresses and Uzunköprü-Halkalı, Edirne-Halkalı regional trains.”
“We expect 40 thousand passengers per day on YHTs on Bayram”
Uraloğlu pointed out that nearly 35 thousand passengers are served daily with Ankara-Eskişehir, Eskişehir-İstanbul, Ankara-İstanbul, Ankara-İstanbul, Ankara-Konya, Konya-İstanbul, Karaman-İstanbul, Ankara-Karaman, Ankara-Sivas, Sivas-İstanbul YHT services and stated that an average of 40 thousand citizens are expected to travel by YHTs daily during the holiday.
Pointing out that YHTs also bring vitality to tourism, especially during the holidays, Uraloğlu noted that the demand for main line and regional trains, which serve approximately 32 thousand passengers a day, has also increased in this period.
