In Ankara, a 22-year-old girl who was under a billboard that was uprooted due to the storm died. A shopkeeper, one of the witnesses of the incident, said, ‘We could not intervene because she was completely under the signboard. Her condition after she was rescued was not good.”
Ayşe Yavuz, 22 years old, died when she was trapped under a 10-metre billboard which was overturned due to the downpour and strong storm in Sincan last night. It is learned that Yavuz had left the gym and took shelter under the billboard to protect herself from the rain. The lifeless body of the young girl who could not be saved despite all interventions was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution morgue. It is stated that Yavuz will be sent to her last journey after the funeral prayer to be performed following the afternoon prayer in Ayaş.
‘Her condition was not good’
Bilal Yılmaz, one of the shopkeepers who spoke about the incident: “There was a storm last night. The advertisement sign was knocked down due to the storm. Two of the three people waiting at the stop under the sign survived to our shop. The other one was injured, glass entered his head. They told us that a girl was trapped under the sign. When we went there, she had a pulse and said ‘OK’ to me. Then she died. We couldn’t intervene because she was completely under the signboard. Her condition after she was rescued was not good. His leg was upside down. His face was unrecognisable. I think there is incredible negligence here. When the signboard was first installed, we thought that not many precautions were taken.”
