Fatma Karanfil, who was intubated in the past days, lost her life. When Karanfil was diagnosed with cancer, it was learned that multiple metastasis had started.
Fatma Karanfil’s death news was announced by her manager Aslı İslamoğlu on her social media account:
“We have learned with deep sadness that our esteemed actress Fatma Karanfil, one of the respected names of Turkish cinema and theater, has passed away.
Fatma Karanfil, who took part in many successful projects throughout her artistic life and received many awards, was an exemplary name not only for her acting but also for her elegance, hard work and humanity. While we are deeply saddened by this painful loss, we wish God’s mercy to Fatma Karanfil and extend our condolences to her family and all her loved ones. Her light will never go out and will always shine in our hearts and in the art world. May your place be heaven, dear Fatma Karanfil. It is announced to the entire art community and the public.”
Who is Fatma Karanfil?
Born on February 3, 1952 in Eskişehir, Fatma Karanfil studied at the Language and Culture Center and then entered the cinema in 1968 by winning third place in the Ses Magazine competition. In 1975, Karanfil married Ali Kocatepe, but they later separated, and she studied textiles in London between 1976 and 1980. Diagnosed with breast cancer and overcoming the disease, Karanfil returned to her job in 2001.
In 2008, she came to the agenda again with her role in the series ‘Aşk-ı Memnu’ broadcast on Kanal D screens. Fatma Karanfil played the character of Fatma in Keloğlan, one of the legendary productions of Yeşilçam.
