Heavy rains in northwestern Italy have reportedly caused floods and landslides in the Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta regions.

According to the news in the Italian press, due to the ongoing downpours in the Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta regions in the northwest of the country, floods occurred in many rivers and landslides occurred in some high areas.
It was stated that landslides and floods in these regions caused material damages.

It was reported that rainwater flowed from the slopes of the mountains in the Piyemonte Region resembling waterfalls, especially due to heavy rains.

It was noted that rescue operations were carried out by the Italian Fire Brigade to rescue those trapped in settlements in two regions where some roads were closed due to floods and landslides in the rivers.
It was stated that about 30 mountaineers stranded in the mountainous town of Macugnana on the Italian-Swiss border were evacuated from the air by a fire brigade helicopter.

It was reflected in the press that about 200 people stranded in the town of Cogne, surrounded by the Alpine Mountains, where the highway was damaged due to floods and landslides, were rescued by helicopter. It was reported that many cars were swept away by flood waters in the flood in Cogne.
Fire brigades provided assistance to 80 people in difficulty in the town of Verbania Cuio Ossola in the Piedmont region, which was affected by heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, hailstorms in Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta caused material damage to cars and agricultural lands.
