The Sahel States Alliance (AES) has taken a significant step to strengthen security cooperation and support socio-economic development.

In May, the countries that approved a preliminary agreement to form a confederation are now strengthening their cooperation in communication by launching a joint media platform.

During a workshop held in Bamako, communication ministers and media experts from Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso outlined the key components of the platform. At the end of the discussions, the following decisions were made:

• Establishing an AES Web TV and digital portal,
• Preparing to launch a television channel and a radio station,
• Defining a graphic charter and broadcasting standards.

Strengthening communication through media

Malian Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Hamadoun Touré emphasized that the upcoming media tools will be crucial for informing local populations, raising awareness within the international community, and combating misinformation.

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Communication, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, urged experts to produce high-quality content to enhance the image of the AES.

Nigerien Minister of Communication Sidi Mohamed Raliou highlighted the importance of an effective and consistent communication strategy to strengthen unity and cooperation among the three countries.

With this initiative, the AES aims to establish a robust media infrastructure to inform both local and international audiences while countering disinformation campaigns targeting the confederation’s stability.
