AKOM warned Istanbulites not to stay under the sun between 11.00 and 16.00 hours in Istanbul due to extreme heat.
According to the latest meteorological assessment made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Disaster Affairs Department AKOM, Istanbul and the western and southern regions of the country are under the influence of air waves originating from Africa and Basra.
According to forecasts, temperatures will rise above 35 degrees Celsius as of today. The sweltering temperatures are expected to continue throughout the week.

AKOM warned the elderly, sick, pregnant and children not to stay under the sun for a long time, especially between 11.00 and 16.00 when the heat is most effective.
AKOM also drew attention to the hot and dry weather and warned of an increased risk of forest fires.

Ankara Governorship and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality also warned the public about the hot weather that will affect Ankara starting from today.
According to the meteorology forecasts, the air temperature will be 8 to 12 degrees above seasonal norms across Ankara on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
According to the latest assessments made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, temperatures across the country are expected to increase by 2 to 4 degrees above seasonal norms.
