An American woman who tried to drown a 3-year-old Palestinian Muslim girl in a pool has been detained on suspicion of murder. While the police stated that the crime was committed due to discrimination, US President Joe Biden declared that he was “deeply disturbed” by the incident.

A mind-blowing incident took place in the city of Euless in the US state of Texas. A Texas woman who tried to drown a 3-year-old Palestinian Muslim girl in a pool was detained on suspicion of murder. According to Euless police, the incident occurred last May 19 in the swimming pool of an apartment building. Elizabeth Wolf, 42, approached a US citizen mother of Palestinian descent who was in the pool with her 3-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son and made discriminatory remarks. Wolf first physically assaulted the 6-year-old boy and then pulled the 3-year-old girl under the water and tried to drown her. While the girl was rescued with the intervention of other residents, the police detained the attacker on suspicion of attempted murder.

CAIR: “It should be treated as a hate crime”

In a statement, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called for the incident to be treated as a hate crime and demanded protection for the family and the entire Muslim community. “The crime is believed to be motivated by discrimination and is part of the case filed by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office,” the Euless Police Department said in a statement.

Biden: “Children should not be exposed to violence”

President Joe Biden also reacted to the incident in a statement on his social media platform X, saying, “I am deeply disturbed by the news that a 3-year-old American of Palestinian descent tried to drown in a pool.” “No child should be subjected to violent attacks. My heart goes out to the family of the child victim.”
