YÖK reported that the artificial intelligence course will be included in the curriculum of universities in the work carried out with BTK Academy.
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated in a written statement that the infrastructure, trainings and courses of the BTK Academy will be used by universities with this joint work, and that new courses will be opened and trainings will be prepared.
Emphasizing that courses on digital technologies and artificial intelligence will be included in the curriculum and taught at universities, Uraloğlu stated that they aim to reflect the courses taken from the BTK Academy on students’ transcripts as non-university achievements.
Uraloğlu emphasized that in the first phase, studies are being carried out to meet some of the courses of 12 associate degree programs based on artificial intelligence, which are newly opened and will receive students this year, from BTK Academy courses. Announcing that they have completed the draft study for course pairings that may be appropriate, Uraloğlu said:
“We have made arrangements and additions to ensure that BTK Academy courses meet the target and purpose of the courses at universities. In order to match the BTK Academy courses with the courses in associate degree programs, work continues to prepare reports on a course-by-course basis. The reports related to this study are planned to be completed by the end of June. According to the reports, the BTK Academy will create a pool of YÖK courses that will directly meet the courses in associate degree programs by making arrangements on its own courses. Within the scope of the project, we aim to complete the pilot studies for the courses to be taught in the fall semester of 2024-2025 in associate degree programs by the end of August. Studies and matching will continue for the spring semester and the following year’s courses. For some of the existing associate degree courses, BTK Academy cannot find suitable content or the courses that are suitable may be incomplete in terms of content. For this reason, we will receive proposals from our relevant universities for additional new courses or missing content completion. Artificial intelligence is used in almost every aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence can also be used by malicious people, foreign intelligence and terrorist organizations. For this reason, we must educate our young people correctly on artificial intelligence and technology. In this context, we attach great importance to this cooperation with YÖK.”
