Author Azra Kohen made a statement on Palestine that drew reaction. Kohen claimed that some Palestinian mothers deliberately take their children to the place where bombs will be dropped. Kohen published another message after her post caused outrage. Stating that he found the state of Israel unforgivable, Kohen stated that his reaction was towards those who abuse children.

Following Hamas’ attack on October 7, Israel’s genocidal response to Gaza is among the world’s most important agenda items… As Tel Aviv strikes the camps where Palestinians who took refuge in Rafah on the border with Egypt have settled, news of massacres are coming from the region every day.

Author Azra Kohen, whose books are bestsellers in Turkey and known for her trilogy Fi, Çi, Pi, made a statement that drew reaction against Israel’s persecution of Palestinians. Kohen’s response to one of her followers, who questioned why she did not make a statement about Welfare on social media, created an agenda.

Kohen’s reactionary response is as follows:

  • I have already said everything I have to say about Palestine, many times. Let me say it again: I wish everyone who is capable of taking their own child to the place where the bomb will be dropped, which is announced three hours in advance with a megaphone and called with a loudspeaker, sitting in the corner where the bomb will be dropped and taking a video of it, to disappear!
  • And I pray every day for those children to be saved from those disgusting creatures who put them in the bomb site to shoot their videos… A human being should be a being with the ability to analyze the conditions of a video shot. I wish you to see things as they are. No one who can’t protect their baby and eats it doesn’t deserve to live!”

Azra Kohen defended herself

After her statement caused outrage, Azra Kohen defended herself as follows:

  • First of all, my ancestral surname is Sarızeybek. I was born and raised in a Muslim family. Because I am a mother, I am a person who already has incredibly sublime feelings for children all over the world without discriminating language, religion or race, and because of these feelings, I have very serious heartache.
  • My reaction is my reaction to those who cause children to be abused in order to make videos. There are too many of them. Because there are children who were killed so that we could share them on social media. I didn’t even say a word to the mothers. I find the state of Israel unforgivable. No one can say that I have a different opinion.
