Bread was raised by 31 percent in Istanbul. The maximum price of 200 grams of bread in Istanbul was increased by 31.25 percent to 10 TL with the decision taken at the May assembly meeting of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO).

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) held a vote to determine the bread price tariffs of bakeries in Istanbul at its May council meeting. As a result of the meeting, the maximum selling price of 200 grams of bread in Istanbul was updated to 10 TL, an increase of 31.25 percent.

The decision was announced with an emphasis on the fact that “due to increasing costs, bread producing businesses are experiencing serious difficulties and considering this situation, the maximum price of 1 kilogram of bread for Istanbul is 50 TL and the maximum price of 200 grams of bread is 10 TL.”

With this decision, there has been a significant increase in bread prices since the last update in December 2023. At that time, the maximum price for 210 grams of bread was 8 TL, but with the new regulation, this price was increased to 10 TL. This increase was made to cover the rising operating costs of bakers in Istanbul.
