The President of Burkina Faso’s Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, received the 2023 public report of the Court of Auditors yesterday, Tuesday.

The presented report focuses on the activities carried out by the Court of Auditors during 2022. The 2023 report outlines the organization and operations of the Court, along with its judicial activities in overseeing public administration.

The President of the Court stated: “In this regard, we continued the assessment of management accounts in 2022, covering the fiscal years from 2017 to 2020.”

Mr. Poda also noted that, regarding cases of mismanagement, the Court identified several instances, which have been entrusted to the competent chamber. The 2023 public report also reviews the implementation of the 2022 Finance Act and the management of revenues from extractive industries, particularly gold mining.

“At the local government level, we audited the Local Development Mining Fund, where we detected irregularities in management. (…) We made recommendations to identify how improvements can be made,” he added.

In this report, the Court also examined the management of projects and programs, offering recommendations for better administration of public assets.
