At this online meeting, Senih Yazgan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Uludağ Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association (UYMSİB), discussed the efforts made to promote and sell fresh fruits and vegetables produced by Turkish farmers in foreign markets such as Japan.
President Yazgan talked about the export efforts focused especially on cherries and black figs and said, “We aim to sell Bursa black figs in Japanese markets by 2025.” He emphasized that they also took into account Japan’s strict quarantine measures in this process.
Mukaddes Nur Yılmaz, Chief Commercial Counselor in Tokyo, pointed out that black figs could create a great demand in Japan and create their own market due to their qualities. Yılmaz stated that conducting the necessary scientific studies for export to Japan and the acceptance of these studies by the Japanese authorities would be a start for export.
The meeting also focused on technical issues such as logistics and tax rates that should be considered in the Japanese market. Experienced exporters who have exported fruits and vegetables to Japan in the past also shared their experiences and provided guidance to new exporters. This meeting provided valuable insights on how Turkish fruit and vegetable exports will progress in the Japanese market.
