On the first working day of the week, the people of Istanbul are struggling with traffic due to the rainfall. Passenger density is also experienced at some metrobus, IETT and tram transfer stations across the city.

With the beginning of the week in Istanbul, long vehicle queues were formed throughout the city with the effect of traffic density and rainy weather. According to the traffic map data of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the density reached 72 percent on the European side and 78 percent on the Anatolian side. Traffic density across the city was measured at 74 percent.

The rainy weather had a remarkable impact especially on traffic. While there was heavy traffic in many parts of the megacity, vehicles were almost unable to move between Beylikdüzü and Büyükçekmece on the D-100 highway and in various parts of the Anatolian side.

On the European side, traffic started from Cevizlibağ, then moved to Ayvansaray, Golden Horn Bridge, Okmeydanı,

It extended to Çağlayan, Mecidiyeköy and Zincirlikuyu. On the Anatolian side, the July 15th Martyrs Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge were busy at their crossings to the European side.

The situation was no different on the TEM Highway. Traffic density starting from Kozyatağı continued until Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. There was a similar density between the Samandıra intersection and Çamlıca toll plaza.

A similar picture was observed in public transportation. While passenger density increased at Metrobus, IETT and tram transfer stations, passengers tried to move forward in the crowd at transfer points.

While Istanbul residents started the new week with heavy traffic and rainfall, authorities are warning drivers and public transportation users to be careful.
