The number of people killed in the storm, which was effective in the US states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kentucky, increased to 22.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said at a press conference that 5 people lost their lives in the state due to the storm.

Authorities announced that the death toll from the storm rose to 22 with the deaths of 5 people in Kentucky, 8 in Arkansas, 7 in Texas and 2 in Oklahoma.

On the other hand, it was stated that more than 400 thousand people in the country, including 125 thousand in Kentucky, were left without electricity for a while due to the storm.

President Joe Biden, in a statement on his X social media account, conveyed his condolences to the families of those who died in the storm.

Announcing that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of the Ministry of Homeland Security is conducting damage assessment in the field, Biden noted that they are ready to provide support when necessary.

Biden stated that more severe weather conditions are expected across the region and urged residents to be vigilant and heed the warnings of the authorities.

Rob Linton, a resident of Charleston, Kentucky, told the press about the storm, “It’s a big mess. Trees are down everywhere. Houses are uprooted. Power lines are down. There are no public services, no water, no electricity.”
