With the warming of the weather, there is an increase in the number of ticks. Some cities are experiencing deaths due to Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF). Municipality officials announced that ticks in Istanbul do not carry the Crimean Congo virus.

The weather got warmer and ticks appeared.

Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) started to be seen in emergency rooms. Increasing tick cases in Anatolia brought to mind the question of whether there is a similar situation in Istanbul.

Although experts say that ticks do not carry diseases in Istanbul, the fight against both ticks and mosquitoes started two months early.

Experts recommend caution when encountering ticks on the body.

The disease process, which starts with complaints such as fever, dizziness and muscle aches, can result in death. Experts recommend caution in places where there is a risk of ticks.

Tick statement from IBB

As part of the fight against disease-spreading ticks and mosquitoes in Istanbul, teams are spraying risk points with 611 personnel.

According to NTV, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Health Department Head Önder Yüksel Eryiğit emphasized that ticks in the city do not currently have the ability to carry the Crimean-Congo virus.

Eryiğit stated that precautions should still be taken and said, “After the tick report comes to us, spraying is carried out in that area.”
