Dual citizenship law comes into force in Germany

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that with the law that will enter into force on June 27, members of the Turkish community in Germany will be able to regain their Turkish citizenship while retaining their German citizenship.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that with the law that will enter into force on June 27, members of the Turkish community in Germany will be able to regain their Turkish citizenship while retaining their German citizenship.

In a post made on the social media account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated: “With the change in the law that will enter into force in Germany on June 27, members of the Turkish community in Germany will now be able to regain their Turkish citizenship while retaining their German citizenship. All our consulates general in Germany will be ready to receive applications as of this date. This legal regulation, which the Turkish community in Germany has been waiting for and deserved for many years, is a positive, meaningful and valuable development in terms of Turkish-German relations.”
