Eid rush at Istanbul Airport

Citizens who want to spend the 9-day Eid holiday outside the city have started to create density at Istanbul Airport.

Citizens who want to spend the 9-day Eid holiday outside the city have started to create density at Istanbul Airport. While it is stated that one thousand 608 flights will be organized from Istanbul Airport for today, 262 thousand 878 passengers will have traveled on these flights.

With the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, the holiday journeys of those who want to spend the 9-day holiday outside of Istanbul have started. Istanbul Airport has been busy since noon. Queues formed at the x-ray checkpoints at the entrance of the terminal building due to the density. Istanbul Airport Operator İGA teams keep the entrance gates and X-ray control devices open to ensure that passengers pass faster without any disruption.

One thousand 608 flights will be operated from Istanbul Airport

Due to the closure of schools and the Eid holiday, Istanbul Airport is busy with flight and passenger traffic today. One thousand 608 flights and 262 thousand 878 passengers are planned to be served from Istanbul Airport. At Sabiha Gökçen, another airport in Istanbul, a total of 743 flights are expected to take place and approximately 130 thousand passengers are expected to travel on these flights.

Airline companies have added additional flights

Due to the Eid al-Adha holiday, Pegasus Airlines has planned 97 additional flights between June 14-24. Of the additional flights planned between these dates, 64 domestic flights, 28 flights to Cyprus, 4 flights to Italy and one additional flight to Kuwait will be organized. Due to the holiday, Adana, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman and Izmir were the flight points where passenger density was experienced on domestic routes. Due to the intensity in Cyprus flights, the airline planned additional flights from Sabiha Gökçen, Antalya and Izmir airports. Italy was the country with the highest intensity in international destinations.

“I go to my hometown once a year”

Yunus Emre Çapacı, who stated that he will spend the holiday in his hometown Erzurum, said, “I bought the ticket a month in advance, so I had no difficulty in finding a ticket. I plan to spend the holiday in the village. I miss my hometown very much because I go there once a year. I will spend the 9-day holiday in my village and return to Istanbul. May everyone be happy and smile on the holiday.”

“I will go back to work after the Eid holiday”

Hasan Yıldız, one of the passengers, said, “We will fulfill our prayers and sacrifice on Eid. After the holiday, I will go back to work. I wish you an accident-free holiday. Happy Eid to the Turkish nation,” he said.
