Erkan Yolaç, one of the famous names of the television world, who is remembered with the ‘Yes-Hayır’ contest, passed away at the age of 89 in the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for a long time.

Erkan Yolaç, the host of one of TRT’s phenomenal competitions ‘Yes-No’, passed away in the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for a long time.

Yolaç, who had been in intensive care for a long time, was 89 years old.

The following statement was made from the hospital where the famous name stayed:

“The treatment of the esteemed television presenter Erkan Yolaç, who applied to our hospital due to respiratory distress, was continued with a multidisciplinary approach. Unfortunately, our patient, who had been under treatment in the intensive care unit for a long time, passed away at 21:00 on the evening of May 16, 2024 due to multiple organ failure. We wish him mercy and condolences to his grieving family and all his loved ones.”

Who is Erkan Yolaç?

Born on February 24, 1935 in the infirmary of Alpullu Sugar Factory, a town in Babaeski district of Kırklareli province, Erkan Yolaç studied at Saint Joseph High School for a year and then continued his education at Kenan Evren High School. When he moved to Karabük in 1951 due to his father’s job, he attended Kastamonu High School as a boarding student. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1959 as an interior architect, Yolaç entered Ankara Radio without an exam and worked in the special entertainment program for Eid.

In 1960, he presented a special holiday entertainment program on Ankara Radio.

She worked in casinos with names such as Huysuz Virjin, Orhan Boran and Leyla Sayar. He adapted the “Yes-No” contest, which had previously been held on the British broadcaster BBC, to his own style and performed it for the first time on stage at Caddebostan Gazinosu in 1962. In this contest, the contestants would try to answer Yolaç’s questions for two minutes without using the word Yes or No.[6] Yolaç worked as a presenter on stage, radio and television for years.

Erkan Yolaç married Asuman Tuğberk, Miss Turkey, on March 21, 1976. He has a daughter named Göksu and a son named Mehmet. His daughter and son got married and settled in America.
