A fire broke out in Mankaf district of Ahmadi province in southern Kuwait, killing 39 people and injuring many others.
The statement of Major General Iyd Rashid Uveyhan, Director of Forensic Evidence at the Ministry of Interior, on the incident was published by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information.
Uveyhan stated that the Ministry of Interior received a report of a fire in the Mangaf area at 06:00 local time and that teams were dispatched to the area.
Uveyhan stated that according to the first determinations, 35 people lost their lives and 15 wounded people were transferred to the hospital in the fire that broke out in two buildings in the Mangaf area, and 4 of the wounded died despite the intervention.
Uveyhan noted that civil defense and medical teams rescued 11 people.
Stating that most of the casualties were caused by smoke inhalation, Uveyhan said that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Local media reported that there were many foreign workers in the two buildings where the fire broke out.
