Khvicha Kvaratskhelia said: “Everyone in Georgia is waiting for our first match. We are full of emotions. We are preparing as much as we can for the most important match against Turkey. Because we will continue with the same spirit with which we started.”
Georgia’s star player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who stated that they will be united as a country during the Group F first match against Turkey in the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024), said that they want to make a good start to the tournament by winning.
Kvaratskhelia, the 23-year-old winger who plays for Napoli, gave an interview to UEFA’s website and made statements about the European Championship in which the Georgian National Team will compete for the first time in its history.
Emphasizing that it is the dream of every Georgian citizen to take part in the championship and that they are pleased to have achieved this, Kvaratskhelia said: “We are not here just to participate; we want to add a new page to history by making our mark at EURO 2024. We are completely focused on the tournament. Everyone in Georgia is waiting for our first match. We are full of emotions. We are preparing as much as we can for the most important match against Turkey. Because we will continue with the same spirit with which we started. On June 18, we will see Georgia as a whole and we will try to win. I hope the match will end in our favor and we will reach our goal. Like every team, our first goal is to pass the group stage and we will do our best to achieve this.”
“We have become a great team that can fight with anyone”
Stating that the team chemistry is at a high level, Kvaratskhelia said, “We have a squad of experienced and young players. We have become a big team that can fight with anyone. Guram Kashia is a real captain. He leads us and does everything a true captain should do on and off the field. He warns the young players to work hard every day.”
Kvaratskhelia said that it would be a great pleasure for him to play in EURO 2024 and added: “I have a huge responsibility due to my role in the team and I am grateful when my work is appreciated. There are many Georgian footballers who can be the best player in the country, but we are trying to be a team and individual success is less important for us right now. We will experience moments and emotions in the tournament that we will remember for the rest of our lives.”
Turkey and Georgia will face each other in the first match of Group F at BVB Stadium in Dortmund, Germany at 18.00 on Tuesday, June 18.
