Muhammet Enes Bilek, who studied at Cemil Meriç Science High School in Elazığ for 2 years and then in Germany for 2 years, won the University Florida in the US state of Florida with a full scholarship worth 55 thousand dollars a year.
The educational success of 18-year-old Muhammet Enes Bilek, who lives in Elazığ, has crossed continents. The high school student, who was born and raised in Elazığ, started researching for transfer to high schools abroad after winning Cemil Meriç Science High School. After successfully completing the exams he took, Bilek won the UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg, Germany. After 2 years of studying here and continuing his development, the successful student won a full scholarship of 55 thousand dollars from the university in the state of Florida in the USA, after the English2Success Project for students with poor financial situation, marathon runs and the aids he collected for the Red Crescent during the devastating earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. Bilek will study software engineering and aviation here. The successful student, who will study in America for 4 years, stated that even just the airplane expenses cost hundreds of thousands of liras and asked the helpers to support him.
”I did many activities in Germany to represent Elazığ and our country”
Muhammet Enes Bilek, who stated that he studied the first 2 years of high school at Cemil Meriç Science High School in Elazığ and 2 years at Robert Bosch College in Germany, said, “If I am lucky, I will study in the USA for 4 years. I won the state-funded University of Florida in the state of Florida. It is one of the best universities there. The university I won is in the top 5 among state universities. I received a full scholarship of 8 million liras in total due to the projects I did in Germany. I also received offers from other universities, but in order not to put my family in financial difficulties, the university with scholarship was better for me. I chose the software engineering and aviation department at the University of Florida. I did many activities in Germany to represent Elazığ and our country. I ran in two marathon runs, and last year I collected donations for the Red Crescent in Germany due to the devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.

Finally, I realized the English2Success Project where European teachers give free lessons to Elazig students and this project is still ongoing. Students with limited financial means in Elazig can apply for this project. Because of such activities, I received offers from Florida and a few other universities. At the University of Florida, I will receive an annual scholarship of 55 thousand dollars. Apart from that, the rest of the expenses, especially the plane ticket, are a problem for my family. Other than that, they gave me enough scholarship to study in America. My family did not want me to study in the US at first because they wanted me to stay with them. Anyway, my intention is to study aviation and return to Turkey after working there. Everyone has different life goals and objectives. My advice to my peers is to follow their dreams and contribute to our country. I studied in Germany for two years, but one’s hometown is very different.” Bilek stated that he will return to Turkey after completing his education.
