HÜRJET, Turkey’s first jet-powered supersonic training aircraft, is preparing to make its first flight abroad in Egypt.
As part of the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day celebrations, HÜRJET left the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Kahramankazan facilities and performed a special demonstration flight in Samsun, and then flew in Izmir as part of the EFES-2024 Combined Joint Active Joint Firing Land Exercise.
Following these local flights, HÜRJET is preparing to meet the skies abroad for the first time. HÜRJET will participate in the Egypt International Airshow, which will be held between September 3-5, and will perform a demonstration to showcase its capabilities.
HÜRJET, which attracts the attention of countries in the region, especially Egypt, will hold talks with countries in the region, including Egypt, within the scope of this airshow.
Egypt International Airshow is known as one of the most prestigious aviation and defense events in the Middle East and North Africa. It brings together the leading names of the international aviation industry, defense industry professionals and technology enthusiasts. In addition, world-renowned aerobatic teams, military air forces and various aircraft perform flight demonstrations at the event.
The importance of the jet training aircraft market, in which HÜRJET is involved, is increasing. The size of the market in this field has reached an annual average of 1.6 billion dollars in the last 20 years. The fact that many armed forces will replace their existing jet training aircraft with advanced versions in the next 10 years increases the need in this field. Many countries, including the Turkish Air Force, are interested in HÜRJET.
HÜRJET is Turkey’s first jet-powered supersonic trainer aircraft developed with domestic and national capabilities. In the serial production process, it is aimed to produce 6-7 aircraft in the first year, and to produce 2 aircraft per month and 24 aircraft per year in the following years. Deliveries of HÜRJET to the Turkish Air Force are planned to start in 2025.
