A love story from Iğdır to Rwanda. Erdinç Teker (44) from Iğdır married Rachel Mushımıyamana (26), whom he met in Rwanda, 7 thousand kilometers away, according to Turkish traditions and customs.

Teker, who works for a private company in Istanbul, met Rachel Mushımıyamana last year when he went to Rwanda with 5 of his friends to build a stadium. Teker and Mushımıyamana, who often saw each other thanks to working in the same place, fell in love with each other in a short time.

Deciding to get married, the couple came to Turkey and had their wedding in Igdir. Rachel Mushımıyamana converted to Islam and took the name ‘Ayşe’ and they were married in a religious ceremony officiated by Mufti Zahit Demirel.

Mufti Demirel said, “Our brother believed and became a Muslim. We have witnessed here, may Allah accept our testimony. May Allah grant our brother to be steady in guidance Inshallah. After a person says the word of martyrdom, he gets rid of all his previous sins and is cleansed like a newborn. Therefore, this is a blessing from Allah. We are very happy. May Allah increase the number of our brothers. I congratulate this family for being instrumental in this brother’s conversion. May Allah be pleased with them. We have fulfilled our duty. They have an official marriage and we are performing their religious marriage. May God accept them,” he said.

Erdinç Teker said, “I went to Rwanda to work for my company and Rachel, who lives there, was working at the same place. We met in a short time and liked each other. After six months of friendship, we decided to get married. We came to Turkey. May Allah make everyone happy and blessed. Her name was Rachel before, now it is Ayşe.”

The mother Hamide Teker expressed her happiness by saying, “I am very happy and pleased, I am proud of my daughter-in-law and her name is Ayşe.”
