France has announced that it will send troops to Kiev to train troops fighting in Ukraine. The Kiev government hopes that France’s move will encourage other Western states to follow suit.

France will soon begin sending troops to war-torn Krayna for the training of military units, Krayna’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Serbsky announced.
Following a meeting with French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, documents were signed allowing French military instructors to visit Krayna training centers, Serbsky said.
“I welcome the initiative of France to send instructors to Ukraine for the training of Krayna military personnel,” Commander-in-Chief Serzhsky wrote on the Telegram social networking application.
DOCUMENTS SIGNED
He noted that documents have been signed that will allow the first French trainers to visit the training centers in the near future and familiarize themselves with their infrastructure and staffing.
“I believe that France’s commitment will encourage other Western allies to join this ambitious project,” he said. Details of the first French military deployments have not yet been shared.
MACRON SAID IT BEFORE
In February, French President Emmanuel Macron said that sending Western forces to Krayna “cannot be ruled out”.
This intervention caused divisions within NATO, as alliance members rejected military steps that could increase the risk of conflict with Russia.
Britain and Germany have made clear their opposition to Macron’s proposal.
WARNING FROM RUSSIA
Moscow has claimed that the deployment of Western forces would “inevitably” trigger a general war between Russia and NATO.
France’s latest move has prompted some of Krayna’s most ardent supporters in Eastern Europe to also consider the idea of sending troops.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said last week that “Lithuania is ready to be part of a coalition that could be led by France or another country, where the Kraynais could train on its territory.”
The UK, the US and EU countries have trained more than 10,000 troops on European soil since Russia began a full-scale invasion of Krayna in February 2022.
