“Long Live Cabotage Day”

Kartal Mayor Gökhan Yüksel, who participated in the celebrations of the Cabotage Day, said: “We are celebrating the Maritime and Cabotage Day in Kartal. 98th anniversary, of course, the War of Independence, the National Struggle, the proclamation of the Republic and then the country established and many gains we have achieved. One of the biggest of these achievements is actually the abolition of capitulations and the privilege that was given to us by declaring the Cabotage Day. In other words, the abolition of those privileges in the seas, within our own borders, in the hands of foreign countries, from transportation to trade, the operation of our ports by us, by our country, and the achievement of this freedom in our own territorial waters. In order to ensure that everyone, from 7 to 77, remembers and understands this, we organize many activities and events in our seas. In our 20 neighborhoods, we are in a sports event with our teams formed with our mukhtars and neighbors in Kartal. We are celebrating the Maritime and Cabotage Day to the fullest. We remember Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades in arms, our martyrs and veterans with gratitude. Because without this freedom, there can be no continuity of a country. Long live the Cabotage Day,” he said.
