The natural gas supply agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkey, which was due to expire at the end of 2024, has been extended until the end of 2030.
Agreements on the supply and exchange of natural gas were signed between BOTAŞ and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company.
The signing ceremony was held with the participation of Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and Mikayıl Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, within the scope of the 29th International Caspian Oil and Natural Gas Fair held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
Abdulvahit Fidan, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of BOTAŞ, and Lidya Salahova, General Manager of Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company, signed an agreement to extend the natural gas supply agreement, which will expire at the end of 2024, until the end of 2030.
Fidan also signed 4 agreements with SOCAR President Rövşen Najef on the delivery and exchange of natural gas.
Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, shared the following on his X account:
“During our visit to Baku, we took new steps to build the infrastructure of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Natural Gas, which we signed last month in Istanbul with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mr. Mikail Jabbarov. With the four agreements signed between BOTAŞ and SOCAR, Azerbaijani gas will be transported to Europe and Nakhchivan via Turkey, and Turkmenistan gas will be delivered to our country. We also signed an extension of the natural gas supply agreement between BOTAŞ and Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company, which will expire this year, until the end of 2030.”
