An operation was organized against an international network selling heavily-crashed vehicles to citizens by ‘changing’ them with vehicles of the same brand brought from abroad.

4 suspects were arrested in a simultaneous operation in 7 provinces centered in Izmir against an international network selling heavily-accident vehicles to citizens by ‘changing’ them with the same brand vehicles brought from abroad. Under the coordination of Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Izmir Provincial Security Directorate Public Security Branch Directorate Auto Theft Bureau teams started a study on the information that vehicles damaged in natural disasters or heavily damaged vehicles that cannot be repaired are changed with the same brand vehicles obtained from abroad, and then these vehicles are sold to other people and unfair profits are obtained. After a long technical and physical follow-up of the police teams, it was determined that after the suspects procured the damaged vehicle, they brought the same brand model vehicle from abroad through the other suspect, who is a dual citizen, and sold it by pretending that the damaged vehicle was repaired after the change process. As a result of the work carried out, it was noteworthy that all the vehicles brought from Izmir and 6 different provinces were changed and all of these vehicles were of the same brand. In the simultaneous operation carried out by the police teams in 7 provinces centered in Izmir on June 10, 20 vehicles, 4 engine blocks, 10 electronic engine brains, 1 chassis iron of a vehicle originating abroad, 1 unlicensed pistol and 23 cartridges, many license plates, registration documents and documents were seized. 4 suspects were arrested. The 4 suspects arrested on charges of qualified fraud, forgery and opposition to the Anti-Smuggling Law No. 5607 were released from the police after their statements. Among the suspects referred to the court, M.O.T., Ş.B., T.T. and M.A. were released with judicial control conditions, while 4 suspects named Y.A, E.G, B.A, and T.G. were arrested.
