Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya reported that an organized crime syndicate has been crushed and 30 suspects have been arrested in “Mahzen-49” operations organized in 9 provinces centered in Çankırı.
In a statement shared on his social media account, Yerlikaya stated that an organized crime syndicate led by Durmuş Görmez had been crushed in the operations.
Informing that 30 suspects, including the ringleader, were captured, Yerlikaya said:
“I want our beloved nation to know that we are determined to clean our country from organized crime organizations and gangs. We will bring organized crime organizations, no matter what size they are, to justice. As a result of the work carried out by the Çankırı Provincial Security Directorate KOM Branch Directorate under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security KOM Directorate, it was determined that suspects who are members of organized crime organizations committed the crimes of establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, threats, intimidation and workplace shooting for the purpose of extorting money, drug trafficking and illegal arms trafficking in the operations organized in Çankırı-based Ankara, Istanbul, Rize, Kastamonu, Kırıkkale, Çorum, Düzce and Sakarya.”
Minister Yerlikaya pointed out that 15 unlicensed pistols, 10 unlicensed rifles, a large number of promissory notes and money and various amounts of drugs were seized as a result of the operations and congratulated the security forces who carried out the operations.
