Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has announced that Russia has the potential to build solar power plants in Burkina Faso to alleviate the country’s electricity shortage.
During his working visit to the Sahel region, which included Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak shared plans for these projects with Burkinabe officials.
Novak stated, “Russian companies can implement projects in Burkina Faso, including the development and construction of solar power plants and the supply of modular energy stations. This presents significant potential for both sides.”
Regulatory Framework and Cooperation
To facilitate the project’s implementation, an agreement on the protection and promotion of capital investments will be signed between Moscow and Ouagadougou. This regulatory framework is expected to ease Russian investments in renewable energy projects in Burkina Faso.
Humanitarian Aid and Agricultural Support
Novak also emphasized that Russia will continue to provide agricultural products to Burkina Faso, reaffirming its commitment to ongoing humanitarian assistance.
These initiatives aim to strengthen Burkina Faso’s energy infrastructure and promote sustainable development through the adoption of renewable energy sources, enhancing the economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
