Sport Climbing Turkey Championship completed

Sports Climbing Senior, Junior and Junior Speed Turkey Championship has been completed.

Sports Climbing Senior, Junior and Junior Speed Turkey Championship, which was hosted by Muş Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and included in the 2024 activity program of the Turkish Mountaineering Federation (TDF), was completed.

A total of 86 athletes, 39 girls and 47 boys from 10 provinces, participated in the Turkish championship, which lasted for 2 days on June 29-30 in Muş Sports Hall. The athletes, who showed competitive rallies throughout the championship, won the appreciation of the audience. The ranked athletes will participate in the national team camp in July.

Mehmet Çağlayan, Board Member of the Turkish Mountaineering Federation, pointed out that the championship was organized for the first time in Muş and said, “86 athletes from 10 provinces participated in this competition. Such a competition was held for the first time in our province. The excitement was at its peak as it is a sport that athletes enjoy watching. Two athletes from our province came second in two different categories. I believe that this is a start. I hope that this sport will develop more in the following years with the contributions of our sports federation and Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports.”

Hasan Mensur Aslan, the athlete from Muş who came second in Turkey in the senior men’s category, stated that he was very happy with his success and said, “I am a speed climbing athlete. I have been practicing this sport for a year and a half. I train regularly every day. My goal was of course to rank in Turkey. I wanted to see better seconds. I can do 7 seconds, 6 seconds, but I couldn’t do 6 seconds here, I hope I can do it in better places. I came second in Turkey among 20 athletes. All 20 of them were good athletes, and I was really happy to come second among them. I will go to the national team camp soon. I hope everything will be better for me.”

Süleyman Vural, an athlete from Muş, who came second in Turkey in the Junior A men’s category, stated that his goal is the national team and said, “I do sports climbing. I had the goal of becoming the champion of Turkey here, but unfortunately I came second. My next goal is to represent Turkey abroad and to make a degree abroad.”

At the end of the races, Timur Taş came first, Hasan Mensur Aslan came second, Aziz Gündoğdu came third in the senior men’s category, Gülay Sarı came first, Ecren Yılmaz came second and Nagihan Yayla came third in the senior women’s category. In the junior A men’s category, Mehmet Utku Kanbay came first, Süleyman Vural second and Kerem Talha Kara third, while in the junior A women’s category, Selma Cemrehan Azbay came first, Yağmur Toylan second and Nergis Meryam Baş third. Ahmet Emin Çakır, Semih Enes Pekşen, Semih Enes Pekşen, Semih Enes Pekşen and Yiğit Türk came first, second and third respectively in the small B men’s category, while Elif Berna Önder, Nurgül Civelek and Ceylin Karakaya came first, second and third respectively in the small B women’s category.

Muş Garrison Commander Transportation Colonel Ali Osman Sağlam, Muş Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Mehmet Arif Taşdemir, branch managers of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, athletes and coaches attended the finals of the championship.
