Britain’s tourism deal with Rwanda, to which it sends irregular migrants, has raised concerns. . Following the allegations that “tourist asylum seekers are coming from Rwanda”, DMM (Center for Combating Disinformation) made a statement.

In a statement made by the Center for Combating Disinformation of the Directorate of Communications, it was stated that the claim that “tourist asylum seekers are coming from Rwanda” circulated in some media outlets and social media is a disinformation aimed at manipulating the public opinion.

The statement emphasized that there is no relation between these allegations and the “Decision on the Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda” published in the Official Gazette dated 29 May 2024 and numbered 32560. It was stated that the decision in question was based on an agreement previously signed on June 24, 2019, which was automatically renewed.

The agreement aims to increase cooperation in the field of tourism, encourage investments and initiatives in the tourism sector, and train stakeholders in the sector. It was also emphasized that the cooperation agreements, which contribute to the development of Turkey’s economic, commercial and political relations globally, pave the way for Turkey to increase its effectiveness.
