Support for beef cattle slaughter will increase domestic production

Tunç, President of the Central Union of Red Meat Producers of Turkey, stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry published the calendar regarding the support for the slaughter of male cattle for fattening and said, “This support will contribute to the increase in domestic fattening production.”

Bülent Tunç reminded AA correspondent that breeders who slaughter their male cattle registered in the Ministry’s Livestock Information System, born in the country and completed their fattening period in slaughterhouses in accordance with the legislation are supported.

Pointing out that 500 liras per animal will be paid for 1-200 heads that meet the carcass weight criteria to be determined by the Ministry on the basis of breed and species, Tunç said, “The calendar for the support of fattening male cattle slaughter has been published. The support will cover all slaughterings made last year and meeting the conditions. This support will contribute to the increase in domestic fattening production.”

Stating that the support given by the Ministry to the sector is very important, Tunç said, “Supporting domestic production is very important for our animal husbandry to go further. Domestic production and our producers should be contributed to with such supports, as such supports increase, there is no need for imports.”

“Thanks to the support, informality will decrease”

Noting that the support is aimed at small enterprises, Tunç said that the future of the livestock sector in Turkey depends on small enterprises.

Tunç stated that animal slaughtering is carried out unregistered in some places and thanks to the support, animals going to slaughter will be registered and thus contribute to the national economy.

Stating that the amount of support is regulated according to last year and should be regulated according to current conditions, Tunç noted that applications can be made until July 12 to benefit from the support.
