In a catastrophic chain accident on the Shuto Highway in Toda City in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, 4 trucks and 3 cars collided for an unknown reason. After the accident, 3 cars and 1 truck caught fire. Many fire brigades and health teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams brought the flames under control and announced that 3 people trapped in the burning vehicles lost their lives and 2 people were injured.
A driver suspected of causing the accident was detained at the scene. Long vehicle queues formed on the highway, which was temporarily closed to traffic due to the accident. A detailed investigation into the incident has been launched.
