Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK): Terms of trade decreased by 2 points in April announced that the terms of trade decreased by 2 points to 86 in April compared to the same month of the previous year.
TÜİK Dış ticaret haddi nisanda 2 puan azaldıannounced foreign trade indices for the period of April 2024. Accordingly; export unit value index decreased by 1.9 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year. The index increased by 1.1 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, decreased by 4 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 2.8 percent in fuels, and decreased by 2.9 percent in manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) compared to the same month of the previous year. Export quantity index increased by 1.9 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index increased by 5.3 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, decreased by 1 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 40.8 percent in fuels, and decreased by 2.3 percent in manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages, tobacco).
IMPORT UNIT VALUE INDEX INCREASED BY 0.4 PERCENT
Import unit value index increased by 0.4 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index decreased by 7 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, increased by 6 percent in fuels, decreased by 6.7 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel) and decreased by 2.7 percent in manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco). Import quantity index increased by 3.7 percent in April compared to the same month of the previous year. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the index decreased by 16.2 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, increased by 10.4 percent in raw materials (excluding fuel), increased by 0.7 percent in fuels, increased by 7.2 percent in manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages, tobacco).
The terms of trade, which is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index and which was 88 in April 2023, decreased by 2 points and became 86 in April 2024.
