Turkish Red Crescent, which suspended its soup kitchen activities in Rafah as of May 6, 2024 due to Israel’s ground operation, started to serve again in the Deir Belah region in the central part of the Gaza Strip.
Turkish Red Crescent announced with a statement that it has started distributing hot meals again in the Gaza Strip.
Due to the Israeli ground operation, the soup kitchen activities in Rafah could not be continued as of May 6, 2024. According to the statement, the Turkish Red Crescent soup kitchen, which distributes hot meals to 10,000 people a day in the al-Mashrou area in Rafah, resumed service in the Deir Belah area in the central part of the Gaza Strip after a three-week break.
With the soup kitchen, the Turkish Red Crescent will work to meet the most basic food needs of conflict victims in Gaza, where the risk of famine is increasing day by day.
Qurban canned food will be delivered to Gaza
Within the scope of the traditional sacrifice by proxy campaign, Turkish Red Crescent will carry out a special work for the victims of the conflict in Gaza this year.
During the campaign, which is carried out under the slogan “If you keep the blessing of sacrifice alive throughout the year, let Turkey be the Crescent”, approximately 400 thousand canned roasted meat will be prepared from the sacrifices slaughtered in Turkey and delivered to Gaza.
The canned food will be distributed as hot meals in soup kitchens and directly to those in need in Gaza throughout the year. The Turkish Red Crescent has set the proxy price of the sacrifices to be slaughtered in Turkey for the victims in Gaza at 11,750 liras.
