Visa statement from Trade Minister Bolat

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat made a statement regarding the relations between Turkey and the European Union, “We are negotiating to overcome the problems especially in visa issues.”

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat evaluated Turkey-EU relations and made critical statements. Minister Bolat; “There is a 30 percent increase in visa applications of our citizens to EU countries. We are negotiating to overcome the problems especially in visa issues.”

Minister Bolat’s statements are as follows;

“We express the visa problems of our citizens. He stated that as the EU Commission, they carried out a coordination study and made a positive recommendation to the member states and Turkish citizens to obtain multiple-entry and long-term visas for visa applications. Compared to the citizens of other countries, the visa application rejection rate of Turkish citizens decreased to 16.5 percent.

This is also the case in our records. There has been a 30 percent increase in the visa applications of our citizens to EU countries for trade, tourism, education, academic, cultural and artistic purposes. At this point, the EU Commission advised member states to increase the capacity of their embassies and consulates in Turkey in terms of both human resources and equipment.”
